Get familiar with the new Nigerian 5quad as they release their debut single "M.I.A"

5quad (pronounced Squad) is the latest multi-genre group coming out of Nigeria. The group made up of 5 members Waye, Vudu, Calie Banti, Jafe and Khandie all bring different vibes and energies to the table on their debut single "M.I.A". The song is a mid-tempo love ballad that blends afro-pop vibes and hip-hop sensibilities as a driving force.

The ladies kick off the "M.I.A" with smooth melodies delivered in their own unique style, Waye has a more rap-infused singing style while Khandie raised the ante with her commanding vocal tone. The track now shifts in a slightly different mood as the guys take over starting with Vudu's auto-tuned flow followed by Jafe's reggae-tinged performance and a multi-lingual verse by rapper Calie Banti to bring the track to a close.

"M.I.A" serves as a nice introductory record for the quintet as they aim to make their mark in the blossoming Nigeria music industry. The group was put together by prolific video director Clarence Peters and are signed to his Capital Hill Music label.

"M.I.A" is taken from their upcoming yet to be titled debut album, which is a blend of Afrobeats, hip-hop, R&B, and Pop songs. Get the audio on iTunes , Spotify, and  Deezer
