Hua Li displays all types of "Mastery" in latest video

Montreal based experimental hip-hop act Hua Li's newest record "Mastery" is a full display of self-assertiveness sprinkled with a large dose of sassiness.

The singer and rapper has been gathering momentum since the release of her 2013 underground project The Bound Feat, and  2015's Za Zhong with producer Gloze (Alexander Thibault). The growth in her unorthodox rap style is evident as she charts a new course with her upcoming project Dynasty from which "Mastery" is taken from.

This latest single features a mellow, lush soundscape layered together over sparse drums adding breadth to the overall instrumentals. The track opens up just enough to not feel too crowded for Hua Li's melodic vocal style to shine through. Like the title suggests, its all about being at the top of your game at every level and not settling for less.

The accompanied visual for "Mastery" captures Hua Li in various stylish set pieces each depicting her as a commanding figure at all times.

The track is taken from her upcoming Dynasty project.

She is also an active DJ, regularly rocking the decks with residencies in her hometown of Montreal, and as touring DJ for underground rap legend Cadence Weapon. Subversive and sexy, Hua Li is Canada’s only half-Chinese, half-militant, half-rapper truly making her name for herself across the music scene.
