“Stowaway”, the newly released single from Toronto band Favours, is a dreamy track full of modern pop sounds and dramatic lyrics. The track comes paired with a video full of colour and slow motion moments full of emotion. This one tops the list of my favourite Pop releases this month.
The music video was filmed on a rainy day throughout the Toronto suburbs. Considering the love story in the song and the sunny paradise the lyrics are describing, the video creates an intense contrast between what we imagine a relationship to always be, and perhaps what it is in reality. The music video, complete with misty forests and raindrop covered windshields, reflects the origin story of the single:
“Stowaway was written during a road trip from the gloomy cold Canadian climate while driving south to the enchanted Muscle Shoals. The lyrics and music mirror the longing for something better during the ebb and flow of a relationship – the urge to escape and live only in the sunny moments.”
Don't miss out on Favours. You need some more synth-pop in your playlist.
