The song “Drought (Song of California) is a whirlwind of guitar shredding and emotions – leaving me absolutely parched in the heat of this song. Okay Embrace, the new band of frontman David Schaefer, does not hold back in this debut single, especially when considering the raw power of their instrumentals throughout.
Los Angeles based Schaefer, formerly of name French Negative, is following his previous musical conquests with this new band’s song of California. “Drought” introduces the world to just how much power can be had in three and a half minutes of crisp, soaring vocals and wild, untamed guitar playing. It’s controlled chaos, and Schaefer’s voice hits on all angles. Although this single has a lot going on musically, it is also simultaneously somehow tranquil. The stand alone guitar riff in the song’s opening is a calm surrender to the intensity that enveloppes the song’s middle.
The band released the single as an enticing prelude to get listeners excited for upcoming record Moving/Improving due to hit the universe this fall. Don't spend another minute without Okay Embrace.
