Italian-born, London-based trio, Husky Loops, are one of the more unique artists to emerge in the past few years. Their sound has been notoriously hard to pin down, but they effortlessly weave together glitchy trip-hop backbeats with crushing guitars and skyrocketing vocals that channel British legends like Damon Albarn and Massive Attack. "Everytime I Run" is the band's latest release after signing to Danger Mouse's label, 30th Century Records. Not only will it appear on the band's upcoming EP, Spool, but it will be featured on the soundtrack to the FIFA '19 video game alongside Childish Gambino, Gorillaz, and Courtney Barnett. Check out "Everytime I Run" below!

The track is, in a word, entrancing. Filled with bizarre, skipping sonic snippets and an anthemic chorus, it is a pure gem. I hesitate to use the word earworm, mostly because of the offputting context, but it is insanely relevant when pertaining to this song.

On "Everytime I Run" Husky Loops turns their name into pure onomatopoeia. Seriously. The drums barge in with a bolstered intensity and give way to hypnotic loops that swirl around vocalist Danio Forni's cascading lyrics. But what really makes Husky Loops truly special is their ability to craft eclectic, energetic choruses that get you hyped. They show off their sophistication and maturity by redefining what art-rock is capable of.

The hip-hop-infused breakdown is chalk full of stutter-step samples a la Madlib and a female vocalist with attitude. It's a welcomed change of pace in a section that could've easily been filled with lazy guitar solos or a four-on-the-floor build up. It's clear this band does not take the easy way out but opts for ingenuity and innovation.

The band had this to say about the track,

"Really this song encourages you to run, and break free. It’s a positive song. I feel like the music really gives you those strong running emotions… It was obviously also really inspired by hip-hop music, and we’re so happy that our best friends (literally) MEI and Count Counsellor jumped on this track. Funny coincidence – We recorded their bars pretty drunk under a duvet in my bedroom on the day England played against Sweden for the World Cup…and then the song ended up being on FIFA 19."

Stay tuned for Husky Loops' four-song EP, Spool, out everywhere October 26th on 30th Century Records.
