English electronic duo Maribou State are gearing up for the release of their sophomore album, Kingdoms in Colour, by dropping a stellar new track. With just that, they have heightened the anticipation of the long form's arrival on September 7, following two earlier singles that now available together, start to paint a picture of what we can expect come the fall.
Entitled "Nervous Tics," the track already has a stamp of approval from Annie Mac with its premiere on her BBC Radio 1 show. It was written across multiple sessions in studios across Berlin, Beijing and London, featuring live recordings of the Guzheng – a traditional Chinese stringed instrument that they recorded in a music store. Featuring frequent collaborator Holly Walker on vocals, the track is laid back, groovy but with its notes of melancholy. It joins "Tummils" and "Feel Good" ahead of Kingdoms in Colour's release.
