Singer-songwriter Grant Kennedy delivers his newest song simply titled "Amsterdam" to our attention. The folk-pop anthem pays homage to the city of Amsterdam where he fell in love with his wife. The guitar-driven record also pays homage to spaghetti western scores with its nostalgia-inducing whistling section as Grant sings "Paint our own reality, Not as it is so /Get lost in the translations And the colors of Van Gogh...". The multi-talented singer's melodic and duet-based chorus draws inspiration from the Everly Brothers and makes for an interesting rollicking piece.
The animated visual is pretty entertaining and it's well crafted too. In it, Grant plays a guitar playing backpacker who meets and falls in love with the girl of his dreams but it actually not love at first sight for both parties so it takes a bit of a mini adventure for things to come in full circle. The animation was done by the Brontomus duo, Natali Voorthuis and Niels Dekker.
