Indie future R&B duo Cool Company has released their smooth new single "Shadow" (feat. Innanet James) exclusively on our site today, and it is one slick single. Vocalist Cool Yan and producer Fat Matt count Outkast, Frank Ocean, and Childish Gambino as influences for their unique brand of futuristic hip-hop and R&B.
"Shadow" is the perfect balance of a mellow serenade smoothed out with a funky groove that defines its alternative hip-hop sound. "We always make sure to hold ourselves to the same bar of catchiness and accessibility even while exploring new aural territories. We strive to be genre innovators," Yan says.
Cool Company is gearing up for a release of their new EP, The Dose Pt. 1, in 2018 with The Dose Pt. 2 arriving next year. While the duo has taken a slightly different direction with their new project, we think fans will remain enthralled without being too nostalgic for their old sounds.
