Buy Muy Drugs drops a vibrant, manic visual for ‘HYPERDOPE DROGAS’ [Video Premiere]

When Buy Muy Drugs' debut self-titled album dropped last year, it felt otherworldly, distinct. It wasn't comparative to other releases in hip-hop at the time – hip-hop scantly used here. Although the album boasted appearances from rappers like Quelle Chris, Yasiin Bey, Open Mike Eagle, the project was a barrage of sound. It was experimental, noisy, tribal. At times, the album's direction steered toward Afro-Brazilian rhythms and grime panic. Other times, high-pitched bleeps dominated melodies. Frankly, Buy Muy Drugs is a tough listen.

But the shoe fit. The album was an introduction to this insane, dystopian society ruled by drugs. Its narrative pushed by samples, floaty rhyme-schemes and harsh repetition.

Up above, the visual for "HYPER DROGAS" shows a type of spiritual dance set to Afro-Brazilian percussions, various whistles and abrasive stretches of noise. It goes hand-in-hand with the album's sudden grasp at bliss birthed out of a lifestyle of consumption.
