If we're going to be honest with ourselves, Tom Misch does it all. A multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, collaborator and experimenter, the British artist has reinvigorated trendy music fans' interest in everything from jazz to 80's soul. His latest album, Geography, is out as of today via Beyond The Groove.
Every track on Geography seems to get up on a soapbox and tell a lesson, demonstrate to us that the quantity of music we listen to day in and day out just cannot replace music of stellar quality. Through the single's we have heard before – "Lost in Paris" with GoldLink, "It Runs Through Me," with De La Soul – and the ones we haven't – the ultra-sexy bass and piano on "Movie," the not at your friend's wedding-cocktail hour cover of Stevie Wonder's "Isn't She Lovely," every track on Geography reminds us of a great time in music and, in a world where the latest and greatest things dominate our streaming-driven music libraries, that we need to give equal attention to the old and the new.
