Is it too early to pick your "Song of the Summer"? Not for The Knocks – the New York City funk masters go for it on their new track "Ride or Die", out now via Neon Gold/Big Beat Records. Full of driving with the top-down sun-shining vibes, the track is the anthem for everybody's favourite season and features indie-pop superstars Foster the People.
If you've been living under a rock or just not hip the nu-disco/funk scene, The Knocks have been killing it with their smash Sofi Tukker and NERVO collaboration, "Best Friend". The track was number one on numerous electronic and dance music charts, featured in an iPhone X commercial and performed live on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon. The boys seem to be keeping the momentum on "Ride or Die" with the inclusion of Foster the People's Mark Foster on vocals. The track is crazy infectious with its bouncy bassline beat and classic funk-driven rhythm. There is also this subtle sexiness underlining the track, which lures you back in for just one more listen.
With their move into the mainstream, we're curious to see where The Knocks and their sound are headed – we wouldn't be mad about a little more nu-disco in the Top 40 charts.
