Making his impressive Monstercat debut is one of the brightest young talents in bass music. Antwerp-based Taska Black teams with songstress Nevve on the evocative new track "We Would Never Do." First and foremost, I've never heard a siren sample used so tastefully. Talk about effective use of restraint in composition. Taska hovers into trap territory on this one, and I couldn't be happier with the sonic exploration. The first few opening bars and Nevve's angelic vocal presence suggest a ethereal tone, but then Taska swiftly brings it home proper in the way only he can. The Heroic-backed talent's signature ominous low end is the perfect counterpart to Nevve's nearly iconic shimmering top line. Meandering sound design eschews the typical parameters of future bass and trap to the delight of my ears. With summer festival appearances slated and exciting new musical pursuits on the horizon, it continues to be a joy to watch this artist come into his own. Keep shining, Taska.
