Producer Shrimpnose takes us through the rollercoaster of emotions on his newest project aptly titled Sullen. The seven-track project embodies what the producer says is the emotional and physical tumults he has experienced becoming an adult.
From the unsure moments, the highs, the lows and the times where love is nowhere to be found, Shrimpnose taps into those experiences and puts them in the music. Using lo-fi, ethereal soundscapes layered with slightly offbeat syncopated drum patterns, the instrumentals here take a life of their own at every turn. While all the tracks are produced by Shrimpnose, pianist Olli and vocalist Spencer Joles lend their respective skillsets on "Peach" and "Witherwithout."
The Minneapolis producer spent approximately 18 months on this project. Sullen is the producer's debut project on Dome of Doom Records and can be purchased here.
