First of all, let me go ahead and say that Sean Paul has been a guilty listening pleasure of mine since he first appeared on the scene. A few months ago, Valentino Khan released his collaboration with Sean Paul, "Gold."
A perfectly acceptable track in its own right, but it was missing a little something and never worked its way into my play rotation, despite my aforementioned love of Sean Paul. Enter a 15-year-old producer that goes by the name Perto on official remix duty. He takes the tropical house vibe of the original, drops the top on it, throws some shades on it, and turns it into a certified banger. Sean Paul's verse feels more at home over the edgier beat, and the decisive synths give the chorus momentum that the original lacks. This one's definitely going to get queued up for pool party duty come summer time.
Despite his age, Perto has 5 years of production to his credit. Quick maths, and you realize he started at age 10! A listen through his Soundcloud reveals remixes for Post Malone, Flosstradamus, Lil Uzi Vert, Diplo, and Porter Robinson totaling hundreds of thousands of plays, impressive credits for a producer of any age. For now, you'll have to travel to Australia to see him. He's based in Sydney and his next performance is Escape Music Festival in Gold Coast.
