Oriental tradition and modern grime collide on BEAUZ's "Reflections" [Premiere]

With a commitment to seamless production and curated aesthetics, the brothers BEAUZ (Bernie and Johan Yang) are firmly situated on an upward trajectory. The Los Angeles-based production duo boasts releases on Spinnin' Records and Armada Music, along with extensive international touring and support from the likes of Martin Garrix, Deorro, and Arty.

The duo's latest offering "Reflections," out today on Thrive Music and premiering with EARMILK, affords these incendiary talents the chance to both show off their proclivity for harder beats and honor their heritage. "Proudly representing the other half of our culture, we wanted to make an oriental trap banger that people instantly recognize at the drop," says Bernie. "Starting off with some meditational chords, I imagined some monks practicing kung fu in the mountains and introduced the Erhu into the track," he continues. Ominous synths set a sinister yet stylized tone from the onset, and the remaining 3 minutes careen through a dark and riotous ride (save for a chill, vibey reprieve around the 2-minute mark).

The name BEAUZ was predictably inspired by the French word beau, but for good reason. The term has a dual meaning – either a youthful lover or a debonaire gentleman. BEAUZ straddle both interpretations of the term. In the pair's words – "We aspire to make music that is chic, and we want our listeners to feel youthful, stylish and sophisticated when they listen to our music. To us, BEAUZ is not just music, BEAUZ is a style, a state of mind, and a movement."
