Oakland based singer-songwriter Berel has released a soulful cover of "Cruel Intentions" by JMSN. As with all of his music, Berel reflects his West Coast roots, while gently blending them together with island and east coast influences for a sound that can only be described as "indie chill."
Berel describes his main influences as The Beatles, the golden era of hip-hop, the neo-soul movement, J Dilla, Ty Dolla $ign, Anderson Paak, and anything Motown influenced. He is also a member of the active Oakland hip-hop collective Fresh Coast Connection in addition to his solo works.
His cover of JMSN hits all of the right notes with its soulful blend of R&B and silky smooth vocals that transport the listener to a place of pure, modern soul.
