tBrooklyn’s spoken-visual-rap-artist Latasha Alcindor delivers the fourth video for the soul-bearing "Affirming Life," off her most recent album Teen Nite at Empire. Where Teen Nite at Empire is a succinct look at her youth and best memories at Brooklyn’s Empire Skating Rink, "Affirming Life" stands out at one of the most ambitious and introspective songs in Alcindor's catalog. The writing is otherwordly at times, with her images and off kilter flow washing over you as waves of deadening emotion.
Directed by Peter Walker and featuring cinematography by Michael Cannova, the video is a canvas of Alcindor's innermost thoughts, her community, and a nod at her future. Notably, in most videos seeing the rapper's face is nothing new, but the conviction Alcindor gets across from the screen to the mic to our ears is palpable. Along with the video Alcindor is announcing the All A Dream House Party Tour, with goals of adding elements to bringing independent artists together to speak out and remedy while having an interactive musical experience, bringing us to everyone's favorite festivity, the house party.
