The Brooklyn-based Indie band, Maitri, has linked up with rapper Denmark Vessey for a wild and frantic ride they call “Oral Fixation.”
More like, Audible Fixation, am I right?!
Comprised of Caroline Davis on saxophone, Ben Hoffmann on keyboards, Sam Weber on bass, and Jay Sawyer on drums, Maitri possesses the perfect mix of skill and energy to keep you hooked from start to finish. Pepper in a bit of Vessey’s excited adlibs and dynamic delivery, and you’ve got yourself jam!
You felt that, right? That sort of raw, unvarnished energy seeping out of your speakers? It almost feels as if it were recorded live without edits, does it not? Well, it turns out it does for a good reason, the song was recorded live sans edits right in the studio! If you are a non-believer in this sort of thing, simply listen to Davis’ sax solo at the end, ‘nuff said.
This is the first time Maitri and Denmark Vessey have hopped on a track together, but hopefully, it is not the last. Both Maitri and Vessey have a strong, gnarly and ferocious way of making music making them an exciting duo on the same song.
