Instrumental albums have forever been a staple in hip-hop as far as I can remember. From Pete Rock's 'Petestrumentals' series to Dilla's  'Donuts',  producers have always kept that extra heat in the bag to make up an entire catalog of sonic slappers. Cats like Flying Lotus, Knwledge, Sango and Oddisee, just to mention a few, have gone over and beyond with their production and even crafted concept projects using instrumentals only.

Here to serve us the main course is the Brooklyn based label, Coalmine Records (home to Bekay, M-Phazes, El Da Sensei and more). Their latest offering is a 14 track instrumental project titled 'Beats, Mines and Life: An Instrumental Journey' which pays homage to the title of ATCQ's  1996 LP  and the label's vast discography by compiling the best bangers from some of the producers who worked with them. The compilation features heaters from veterans such as Nottz, Ayatollah, M-Phazes, and Khrysis. To ensure everyone gets a fair share of shine, the project also highlights gritty bangers from stalwarts like Small Professor, Max I Million, Thelonious Martin, J57 and DJ Concept.

Over 50 minutes long, there are enough slappers to go around, we have some smoothness from Max I Million on the Skyzoo and CL Smooth collab "Perfect Timing Remix", Nottz's neck flipping "Atlantis" and many more for your enjoyment.
