London alt-pop duo VŌS have been circulating the blogosphere for the better part of the last six months. Their latest release "Tide" is a gorgeous blend of electro-pop, drawing on influences like Banks and James Blake. The expansive electronica is haunting, and lead singer Dawn's clear vocal is expertly used.
For the band, "'Tide' is a song about bridging the gulf between two people who for a short time were inseparable." Lyrically, "Tide" is dark and deep, with the constant refrain "we've got to start learning" as a reminder that we can't always turn back the clock. The band's unique instrumentation evokes a certain emotional claustrophobia, although the electronics do not by any stretch feel overused. VŌS' sound is bound to be a surefire hit in the months to come.
