Number one cat fan and Suara records boss Coyu gives EARMILK a Spanish lesson they don't teach in schools. Coyu takes us through 5 of his favourite tracks by Spanish producers before he plays the fifth edition of Dreambeach festival in Andalucia, Spain.

Educate your ears with these percussive and lively tracks that have influenced Coyu and many others around the globe. These tracks are the perfect way to prime yourself for the hottest month of the year, whether you're going to a festival on the Iberian Peninsula or not.

Purveyor of innovative tech house beats from Barcelona to Ibiza, this summer Coyu's imprint Suara resides at Privilege until the end of September. You can catch him outside of his homeland at the Dirtybird Campout in October.

DJinxx & Xpansul – "Parasol"

Ovum

"Santi Xpansul was one of the first Spanish techno producers to have success abroad and release music on international top labels. Plus 8, Truesoul, Harthouse, Leftroom or Soma were some of the labels that ask him to release music with them. Parasol was made along Djinxx as part of his EP on Josh Wink's label Ovum, a good example of Xpansul's versatility and quality making techno music."

Alex Under – "El Encuentro"

Plus 8

"Alex Under was another capital name of the Spanish techno scene back in the 2000s. His release on Richie Hawtin's label Plus 8 was a breath of fresh air for a scene needed from artists that had success internationally. Not only him but his team mates Tadeo, Damian Schwarz and Imek gave identity to the techno made in Madrid."

Iñaqui Marín – "Automato"

Regular

"If Madrid-born Xpansul & Alex Under were one of the first Spanish artists to be required from top techno labels, Catalonian Regular was one of the first national labels to have support from top DJs around the World. Owned by Jaumetic, their best track ever was Automato, released by Iñaqui Marín. It was released in 2006 but sounds like 2018, that's why I still play it on my sets."

Affkt – "Das"

Paulatine

"The first record of Uner's former label was made by one of the best Spanish producers ever, Affkt. Das is a mix between house, soul and funk, a special track that mixes different emotions and still sounds up-to-date. My fav Affkt track ever."

Bastian Bux feat Kyla – "Lights"

Forthcoming on Suara

"Bastian Bux is one of the hottest new names of the Spanish techno scene and I'm very happy to have him on board on Suara. Lights' is a deep techno track, very minimalistic but still emotional that shows the maturity of a fantastic producer. The track will be released after the Summer and counts with remixes from Steve Rachmad & Fur Coat."

Coyu plays Dreambeach Festival's 5th anniversary in Almeria 10-15 August. For more info and tickets visit www.dreambeach.es/
