You may know LA-based singer Ella Vos from her remixes of "White Noise" with well-known EDM producers such as R3HAB and Just A Gent. When this powerful pixie isn't working with high-profile DJs, she is crafting an indie-electronica sound all her own.
Vos's most recent release "In Your Corner" breezily soars across swelling synths that explode like a symphony at the chorus. The quiet, elegant opening sets us up for the cascading surprise that unfolds with each passing second. Vos's voice exudes a seductive airiness comparative to Kelly Zutrau from Wet in all of her tracks, but defiantly takes control at the climax of "In Your Corner." Her voice intimately intertwines with the melody and they rise and fall in a way that reflects both the uncertainty and the resiliency depicted in the lyrics. In the verses, she questions, "Why do we always learn the hard way? / Why've we been here and gone again?" and by the time we reach the chorus Vos finds an answer, "Coulda done more, shoulda been there, no more wastin' precious time / Cause I'll stand in your corner." Clearly, Vos is done with excuses and blame of broken relationships and resolutely offers her hand to repair an old one.
