If you happened to be perusing Facebook this morning, you might have come across a video that immediately was eye catching. And if you're like many of us who scroll without the volume on, what you saw was probably a video that you couldn't decide immediately if you loved or hated: a man looking like he's having the time of his life, longboarding down a California desert road. The fact that Skrillex posted it should have been an immediate cue to turn up the music, and if you did, it's highly possible you're pleased.
The now international face of dance music's rise and current success, Skrillex has debuted a piece of his latest project with a well-respected producer Poo Bear. Seemingly connected through their work together with Justin Bieber – co-producing his album Purpose together – the two have connected on a track named "Would You Ever."
The track is being hailed as a return to Skrillex's come up past by some, and others are asking "Where's the dubstep?" But when you break it down, this is just a feel-good hit, with disco and complextro vibes and infectious energy – just like that which is put on display in its music video.
"Would You Ever" is out just about everywhere, out via Atlantic / Big Beat Records / OWSLA. It follows his return to rock music with his band From First To Last and his collaboration with RL Grime and What So Not last year.
