Getting closer to the release of their new Young Ones EP, Vancover's Rococode posted another little taste of it last week with “Is It Real.” Filled with the duo's signature lush beats, layers of ethereal synths, and detached boy/girl vocals, “Is It Real” is the perfect example of Laura Smith and Andrew Braun's knack for stripped down electronic pop. Intertwining organic melodies of instrumentation and effect-laden vocals, Rococode fits right in the ranks with duos like Electric Youth, Niki & the Dove, and The Hundred and the Hands. Today we're bringing you Rococode's “Is It Real” video to fully complete the breezy, warm weather mood.
This track along with five more new tracks will form Rococode’s new EP. Following up last year’s full-length Don’t Worry It Will Be Dark Soon, the duo worked on their craft to hone in on the strong bits while staying true to their mission of creating musical lightness and escape. Mostly written while in LA, the Young Ones EP saw Smith and Braun experimenting with writing around samples and vibes. Rococode’s entire Young Ones EP is set for release June 16th and catch these two on a little west coast North American tour which kicked off yesterday in LA. Tonight catch them in San Francisco.
