This past Friday, Kevin Sinatra released the official video for "Dragon of the East", one of the singles from his upcoming album Lord Frio. This is the first visual iteration of a track from the album, which is entirely produced by longtime friend VirtuosoTheGod. The visual direction, however, was done by none other than the frequent and longtime collaborator, 6ixShoota, who has also worked with other members of the 7 Serengeti set, including Farma Wes and Curtis Tull.
For those familiar with Kevin Sinatra's riddle like wordplay, the ambiguity of DOTE won't come as a surprise. He raps:
I'm Glad to see what I've become – Lord…Frio/I've finally gained knowledge itself/ Mastered all of my emotions/That's why on devils I never waste none of my time – God…Body/ Talk a walk in my cypher/365 protect ya soul/ Please watch out for the David Dukes – yakub…yeah/Mastered both sides of the force and I know why Moses left Egypt/Because of you/My girl to be's pill poppin lil niggas lost yourselves/ To each his own/ I coexist, only show myself to the pure of heart.
I'm not going to pretend like I understand exactly what the rapper is getting at here with these lyrics, but this kind of broken syntax and vagueness within the lines are something that Kevin revels in; allowing the listener to do the research and make their own interpretation. Imbued with relevant commentary of real social ills (i.e., "pill poppin lil niggas lost yourselves") and a heavy dose of religious undertone, Sinatra's' lyrics are primarily focused on his principled stance in it all. Kevin states "the [track] which reflects on my religious beliefs being a part of the Nation Of Gods & Earths and the morals I stand by." There is no official date, but Lord Frio will be dropping soon.
