Sea Bed, an electronic pop trio based in Brighton, U.K., have cooked up cinematic visuals for their single “Pretender.” The band had an active 2016, which saw the release of 2 EPs and a lengthy touring schedule, and are back to premiere the music video for "Pretender" on EARMILK.
“Pretender” is brooding dark pop in epic proportions, with its massive chorus and spacious, shimmering synths. Of the track, Sea Bed says:
“Pretender is a song about betrayal and forgiveness. It's about the discovery and the eventual letting go of deceitful relationships, whether that be to a lover or a drug, or the relationship we each have with ourselves.”
The band perfectly translates the track into a mesmerizing video. Deep vivid colors and captivating cinematography draw you in, but it's the story that really drives it home. In a style reminiscent of a classic spy film, a girl rife with conflict struggles to come to terms with betrayal. Digging through her partner's car, the girl wrestles with accepting the inevitable, amplifying the song's message of deceit, understanding and moving on. It's a beautiful manifestation of everything the track stands for.
