A Valley Son is based in New York City. The band is made up of Trey Powell, Steve Bowen, and Nate Osborne, who all grew up together on Stax and Motown, and bassist Seth Nicholson, together blending southern gothic, soul, and roots rock to create a unique sound.

Their new single "Sunset Park," is a song that carries deep meaning for the group. Trey Powell told Billboard, "I wrote Sunset Park in the aftermath of Michael Brown's death in 2014. His death, and the divisive response upended my entire view on what America was and changed my understanding of the people in it. The lack of empathy and respect for his life, and, by extension, the lives of millions of Americans by huge swaths of the country was maddening. 'Sunset Park' was written to try to unpack for myself what was happening and to help find any kind of emotional solace in the things around me. It's a song about anger, dejection and, ultimately, hope for a more inclusive, peaceful and humane future."

A Valley Son will be releasing their EP Sunset Park in the near future. Expect a full-length album to be released by the end of this year. You can check out the band at one of their upcoming tour dates below.
