2016 was all about new sounds with unexpected twists like rap artist Childish Gambino going funk or modern folk-legend Bon Iver ebbing on electronic. It makes sense; politics and economics were so unpredictable. Music and culture mirrored it and in a lot of ways all of the genre-bending gave people some much-needed guidance on coping or adapting to sudden change. "Discovery" couldn't by any means be described as a familiar sound either, as Tibe, an emerging Montreal-based producer, is shifting his usual hard hitting beats towards something just a little darker. He's played with the likes of RYAN Playground, Geotheory, and even Baauer, but if you haven't heard his name yet, it's only a matter of time before you hear it again. Although he only has around 500 twitter followers, they include accomplished artists like trap icons EKALI and rustie, and the King of jersey-club himself, DJ Sliiink.
