Chicago's Mick Jenkins and Montreal's KAYTRANADA are an MC/producer match made in heaven. The two have just released their latest track together, "Aurora Borealis", as a part of Chicago multi-art collective and vanity label 119 Productions' compilation tape, Countdown 2 Midnight.

The vibes here are nothing new for either artist, with Mick coming through with his usual effortlessly smooth delivery, and KAYTRANADA bringing the ultra chilled, subtly funky instrumentation. However, there's nothing even remotely stale about it, as every last detail here sounds fresh, making "Aurora Borealis" the kind of track that demands you nod along. Beyond bringing razor sharp bars, Mick takes the time to show off his singing voice on the chorus, melting perfectly into KAYTRANADA's minimalistic, near-flawless production, and creating a sound that's nothing short of silky.
"Aurora Borealis" is a three and a half minute vacation- a song that goes better with the type of Northern Lights you'll find in Colorado than the Arctic Circle kind. Neither Mick Jenkins or KAYTRANADA can seem to do any wrong as of late, and putting them together on a song results in fireworks every time, so give this track a listen, and thank us later.
