Steve Aoki has taken a step toward his electro roots on his latest single. A collaboration with frequent Dim Mak star Autoerotique, "ILYSM" is the top 40 fan's introduction to electro soul. With synths frequently associated with festival tracks, but an infectiousness and memorable melody perfect for the radio, the single samples Brandy's 90's "I Wanna Be Down." Though it possesses all of the traits to do so, "ILYSM" isn't a release that overexerts itself to be something.
"ILYSM" is one of the first looks we have at Aoki's forthcoming EP announced today, that will feature other collaborations with Shaun Frank, MORTEN, and Reid Stefan. 4OKI is due out on July 29th, and will be a look into the work that a pop star like Aoki can do when he links up with talent on the edge of making their break.
