There's always a few tracks each year that seem to blend the past with the future in a way that can hardly be categorized, and the latest offering from the Netherlands producer Frits Wentink is a prime example. The club edit for "Rarely Pure Never Simple" is one big trip that veers between house, electronic, and R&B with the sultry vocals that are twisted into the perfect accompaniment for Frits' lush chords and piano intricacies.
The Dutch born Wentink has been a protégé of sorts for house superstars Detroit Swindle, with releases on their Heist Recordings as well as other highly regarded imprints like Wolf Music. His first trip to Canada is coming up this week and if you're in Montreal or Toronto you'll be able to catch the rising star at Mutek on Thursday and at Cabal on Friday in Toronto. You can grab tickets to either event below.
