As a self-proclaimed electronic music snob, I consider myself fairly open minded to the ridiculous sub-genres we attribute to artists sound. From indie electro to the grimiest dubstep, I love it all. And while my mother doesn't understand the sound design complexities found in Snails's "Vomit-step" or the iridescence in Slander's "Heaven trap", when she grooves to a track I bump in the car, it's confirmed the sound is universally appealing. This is definitely the case for anything I've found coming from Parisian label Nowadays Records, who depict a soulful organic sound unbounded to the generic implications of today's electronic music. Among fresh talents including Phazz, Douchka, UNNO and Fakear, 22 year old producer and singer LeMarquis breaks the mould in electronic sounds and spikes it with a timeless funk edge.

LeMarquis is set to release his first EP Mindtrick off Nowadays Records on June 17th and is premiering the first single "Radar" exclusively with EARMILK today. The artist has an expansive range of remixes from R&B classics Whitney Houston's "Fine" to modern day favourites like Childish Gambino's "Sober". His originals boast an infectious soft nu-disco vibe that will linger in your ears and have you uncontrollably tapping your feet. Inspired by the likes of Kaytranada, Flume, Mura Masa and Majid Jordan, his signature future funk aesthetic is already transparent in the flow of "Radar"

The track begins with a sultry plucking of an electric guitar and LeMarquis's velvety vocals, showcasing the producer's natural talents. The bass begins to pick up and compliments the subsequent vocal chops which revert the track back down to LeMarquis' original electronic roots. The swaying rhythms and sweeping synths are all beautifully meshed into a poppy hodge-podge of brilliance, interweaving retro electronic tastes into contemporary manipulations. This tactful marriage of old and new technologies create for a warm and appealing sound. This development in LeMarquis' music goes beyond stylistic musical fashions and speaks out as a potential electronic classic.

an ideal day consists of wandering a korean supermarket for cutely packaged snacks, stumbling upon instagram worthy neon signage, concluded with me drowning in several down blankets & obsessively sifting soundcloud to find a track that suitably fits my mood.
