A quick peep at VALENTINE's Soundcloud and it's riddled in bright fuchsia and bubble gum sweetness. Press play on one of the tracks and you'd expect the same thing. While some of his tracks do exhibit a particular shiny and kawaii future bass sound, such as in "Cookies" or "Your Love", the producer also has a harder alter-ego in his sound. His collaboration with 3lo was thumping trap banger counter-balanced with light and quirky synths. This yin and yang of intensities make VALENTINE a stand out producer to look out for, especially with his latest release "Drive".
Wobbly rhythms and elastic synths begin an electrifying build up to the track. Eventually impeded by incessant shrills and thumping bass, the track takes off into a tesselation of hard-hitting sounds. Sophie Meier's vocal chops blended in the aural myriad somewhat humanizes the track in all it's synthetic glory. Hollow taps conclude the track alongside VALENTINE's signature, leaving listeners in a state of fury fiending for more. Check out the track below.
