Ambient singer-songwriter Julianna Barwick has announced a new LP, Will, sharing the haunting video for "Nebula" a few weeks back. She's now made a new track, "Same," available for streaming. Contrary to its name, "Same" sees Barwick doing things quite differently, without totally leaving the niche she occupied before. This change is certainly due in part to guest vocalist Mas Ysa, whose voice combines with Barwick's for a sublime juxtaposition. The track sneaks some subtle pop theatrics in amid the ethereal haze, like the synth melody's sad romanticism, and the way the two vocalists belt out the lyrics at certain moments. Will is out May 6 through Dead Oceans.
