While Los Angeles' psychedelic beat scene has exploded in popularity in recent years, the hippie-go-lucky producer Carlos Niño is one of its more under-the-radar figures, despite having a hand in pretty much everything. Formerly the host of L.A.'s Spaceways radio show, Niño is a talented producer and composer in his own right, but he couldn't do it without a little help from his friends.
"Carlos Niño & Friends" will release Flutes, Echoes, It's All Happening! through Leaving Records on April 22. Niño's friends include some of L.A.'s finest, such as Madlib, Kamasi Washington, new age artist Iasos, and of course, Flying Lotus. You can check out the lead track, "It's All Happening!" featuring Madlib, and impressive strings from Miguel Atwood-Ferguson.
