France is constantly flourishing with young and innovative musicians contributing their sound to the electronic scene. The history of electronic dance music in France goes deep, rooting back to the beginnings of French House pioneers including Daft Punk, Justice and Kavinsky. Today, France is booming with modern talent, with the likes of FKJ, DJ Snake, Madeon and more referring to France as their home. Nowadays Records roster includes several artists beginning to break into the scene including PHAZZ and Fakear. Adding to the list of artists to watch this year, Douchka should be one to keep on your radars.

Douchka is gradually carving his way into the scene with participation in the Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo in 2014 and playing at the Pitchfork and The Sound You Need festivals in Paris. His first EP Joyful was released off Nowadays Records and contained a colourful blend of warm retro sounds with futuristic sound design. His last release was a buttery rework of Disclosure's "Omen" featuring a frenzy of depth and sultry vocals from Fifa Rachel. Douchka's content is bodied with swooping rhythms and judiciously curated sounds to create for intelligent music ready to be unraveled and dissected by audiophiles.

EARMILK is excited to introduce Douchka and his latest "Don't Leave" in an exclusive North American premiere. The track is included in his upcoming EP, Together, set for release on March 11th.  Think FKJ meets Flume, Douchka's, "Don't Leave" is an equilibrium of classical instruments, cool hip hop vibes and complex use of inventive sounds. The track begins with an evocative polyphonic synth, blanketed in wooziness to distill a sense of nostalgia in the listener. The haze is then met with the introduction of boisterous zips that sink in and out of the ears. The use of wavy side chain layered over a piano melody is the perfect example of old meets new, depicting a clever charm in Douchka's work. The track is not only smart, but overflowing with old school soul, sampling and manipulating vocals from the Temptations, "Aint too Proud to Beg".  "Don't Leave" is full of quirk with rattles, reverberating sweeps and unconventional drum work, deeming Douchka's craft to be a musical puzzle to adore. Listen to the track below and follow Douchka for updates on the forthcoming EP.

an ideal day consists of wandering a korean supermarket for cutely packaged snacks, stumbling upon instagram worthy neon signage, concluded with me drowning in several down blankets & obsessively sifting soundcloud to find a track that suitably fits my mood.
