German duo VIMES is gearing up for the release of their debut album later this week. To give one last appetizer before fully diving into the main feast, Azhar Syed and Julian Stetter have shared the track “Tuem.” Their style tends to float around a textured electronic sound with this heavy, deep feeling that looms, but overall these two are quite versatile.
“Tuem” sees the guys tap into this dark, contemplative side that reminds me a lot of Caribou. Ghostly strings of vocals project an obvious sense of longing as the track builds and melds into this heavily emotive, yet danceable soundscape. Whether you’re looking to be alone or looking to dance surrounded by a room packed with people, I love that this song can be there for you. Check it out on their album Nights In Limbo, out February 12th via Humming Records.
