Say hello to Alex The Flipper, an Austrian electronic producer with a sound just as distinct as his name. Having started off as a bedroom producer, working with his brother making hip hop cuts, Alex got started at the early age of 17. After making two records with his brother, Alex decided to change his whole sound, working with more synthesizers and textures.
At his second single and first for 2016, “Sands” represents all the different layers of Alex The Flipper. There’s a distinct hip hop edge, but the synths, texture, and airy style make for a very fresh sound. The self-described “fusion of French house and 90s trip hop” opens with a few twinkling notes before it launches into this heady billowing journey. Between the vocals cuts and echoing synthesizers, it really feels like you’re being carried away by the sea.
