Chris Baio is unstoppable this year, and it seems he’s setting up to do the same for 2016. Just before the weather started to turn, our favorite Vampire Weekend bassist released his debut full length The Names. We also got a slew of remixes with last month’s The Names (Expansion Pack) and Baio was asked to remix Tycho’s “Plains” for an upcoming Awake Remixes release. To top it all off, Baio just announced his forthcoming tour and today we’re bringing you the first taste of a new mix that will hopefully keep you warm while we wait for the new year.

“I'll always remember 2015 as the year I put out my first solo record,” says Baio. “One of the great joys of the process was getting a ton of remixes made of my tracks. … I thought it'd be nice to take a look back and make a mix featuring some of these remixes — including my friend Wolfram's gorgeous take on ‘The Names’ and DJ Tennis' absolutely menacing version of ‘All the Idiots.’ I also was recently asked to remix Tycho's track ‘Plains’ … so I threw it on here. On top of that, I used a bunch of tracks that I have been loving lately."

If you haven’t heard The Names, you should give it a listen. It’s hard not to fall in love with the textured and layered melodies that make up Baio’s quirky style of electronic pop rock. Cutesy and playful tracks like “Sister of Pearl” and “Endless Rhythm” will really resonate with Vampire Weekend fans, but the true gems emerge when Baio goes house as in “I Was Born in a Marathon” or “All The Idiots.” Find The Names and The Names (Expansion Pack) out now, and look for Baio on tour!
