While people may argue that you should let the records do the talking, artists such as Kanye West, Skream, Deadmou5 and Seth Troxler all have reputations aside from their music, good and bad of course. Therefore it would be naive to suggest that great music isn't further enhanced by an appealing public image. Que the lovable UK based Hot Creations regular wAFF with his debut release on the Adam Beyer Techno label Drumcode. As a spiritual lover of animals, the outdoors and wholesome balearic dance music, "Holographic" embodies the sense of freedom that he emits as an artist, veering his sound down slightly darker avenues.
Pounding warehouse style kicks are complimented by jagged synths and rusty clanks while fizzing hats inject the track with a relentless energy that's carried throughout. Hypnotic, wavering keys and a looped vocal effuse a rich retro feel as you're teased into an atmospheric breakdown that's climaxed by oscillating synths lurching you back into the pulsing bass line. The records elements are deftly meshed together and if you've seen a wAFF set before you'll know that he likes to keep proceedings rolling, weaving bass lines in and out of each other intricately. So whilst this release, and EP, take a slightly darker route than his previous work, it still oozes that Ibiza vibe that embodies his roots and rise to fame as an artist.
You'll be able to purchase "Holographic" alongside the rest of the EP from September 28th.
