Describing the style of Atlanta production duo Halogen won't really do their music justice. Josh and Alex have been on a roll of making melodic remixes of pop and house tracks, putting their own spin on them in such a way that their original melodies are taken to new heights. Each time we hear something from Halogen, like their most recent work on The Disco Fries's "Born Ready," it elicits a double take, making us wonder why we didn't realize we loved the original the way we now love their remix.
This week, the guys have released their latest remix, this time of Owl City and Aloe Blacc's "The Verge." Out for free download, Halogen's upbeat, poppy, progressive house-inspired production is accentuated by their acute awareness of melody throughout, and the sprinkling of piano chords around Blacc's voice make this one totally addictive.
