Favored Nations is a group formed out of experience. With wide-ranging backgrounds – DJ James Curd, known from his work on DFA Records, Morgan Phalen former vocalist of Diamond Nights and Surahn “Sid” Sidhu, touring guitarist for Empire of the Sun – the group's electro pop has an unusual depth in sound. With everything from disco to the Beach Boys influencing their work, their debut track "Always" landed them a viral hit as the lead single off of their forthcoming debut album, The Great Unknown, due out September 25th via Antler Records.

Ahead of the album's release, they've invited Dallas-based producer Brett Johnson to remix their virally successful track. Johnson, ever familiar with deep house and minimalism, has brought unique deep grooviness to "Always" to compliment its modern indie vocals. On mixing the track, Johnson says:

“I was very excited to be able to remix ‘Always.’ Not only because it's such a fun song, but James Curd and I have been trying to work together for more than a decade, and we finally managed to sort it out. The band itself is obviously very talented and it made my job quite easy.”
