Find them at basement nights and warehouse one-offs reaching from New York to Berlin, a collect of conneisseuring clubbers. Void of tasteless vagabonds and cheap standards, looking to give credit where credit is due. The recent flood of clichéd counterfeits has made most music today better left unsaid, but it's the rumours stuck in our head that tug at our ego and give us the need to shine light. A compulsive urge to spread from one ear to the next, to draw a line between bottle service cogs and what is honestly the cutting edge of electronic music. There's no room for Vegas roller coasters or casual chit chat, just Night Rumours worth spreading.

Procyon
MindTrip Music; 2015-06-15
MT10

Argentina born Juan Pablo Pfirter released another standout EP on his own MindTrip Music label last month, showcasing a 4 part collection of peak time techno tracks including a grungy remix of the title track “Procyon” from Tensal, a new project from Hector Sandoval of Exium. With releases on labels like CLR and Stroboscopic Artefacts, Pfirter’s relentless, dark industrial productions should come as no surprise as every track would feel rightfully at home at somewhere like Berghain, where he frequents. As he continues to push heavyweight artists like Chris Liebing and Lucy on his label, it's his consistency with his own productions that have put Pfirter well on the techno map.

DJ Koze’s latest also comes through his self-run label, that being Pampa Records which he started in 2010. “XTC” features the title track with hypnotic spoken vocals and resonating chords that only DJ Koze can perfect, creating yet another underground anthem. “Knee on Belly” offers a more upbeat, funky rendition complete with horns to round out the two-track release, just one of many in the archive of the Hamburg bred DJ and producer, who also just released the latest compilation of DJ Kicks with tracks from Efdemin, Marcel Fengler, Portable and more.

The Acid
Ra (Remixes by David August & Weval)
Infectious Music; 06-11-15 & 06-23-15
INFECT235 & INFECT245

Released over the period of a few weeks in June, The Acid dropped two official remixes of their epic “Ra” from their debut album, including a deep gem from David August and another impeccable rendition from Weval, one of the brightest names of the past year in live electronic music along with The Acid. Both remixes let the vocals from Ry X (half of Howling with Frank Wiedemann) shine through and both Weval and David August give stunning interpretations with equally exciting basslines, synth work and percussion. Releasing on Infectious Music, the remixes join the ranks of artists like Alt-J, Local Natives and The Temper Trap, and for the most part, fit the role as indie-electronica masterpieces.

HNNY
Solsidan/Alby EP
Let’s Play House; 05-18-15
LPH036

Having just released his latest LP titled ‘Sunday’, the Swedish house music prodigy has been showering us with releases over the first half of 2015. The ‘Solsidan/Alby’ EP is the follow up to his ‘Mys/Kyla’ EP released on the Brooklyn run house music label run by Jaques Renault and Nik Mercer. The EP features two soft sample heavy deep house tracks that are accompanied with club ready remixes from Avalon Emerson and Ana Helder. With sellout records on Local Talk, Omena, and Pets Recordings, you may want to act quickly next time you see one of HNNY’s (pronounced honey) records in the shop or the sharks will have you paying double on discogs.

Brawther
Endless 3xLP
Balance; 06-08-15

The much anticipated 3xLP released on Chicago based label Balance Recordings is a reminder why Chez Damier (label boss) is a staple in the classic/deep house community.  The ‘Endless’ LP is a compilation of Brawther’s hits released on the boss man’s label since Chez Damier kickstarted his career 5 years ago. French born DJ Brawther has since seen releases on labels such as My Love is Underground, and Secretsundaze. With the explosion of deep house guru’s coming out of France such as Jeremy Underground, Lazare Hoche, and Point G, we can’t wait to see what else the country is going to pump out on wax. Brawther is also one half of the supergroup Dungeon Meat, whose self titled vinyl only record label has seen big releases from the likes of Point G, Julian Alexander, and a forthcoming release from the mind behind ‘Personal Momentz’, Mr. G. It’s only a matter of time before he makes his way through North America as the rise of new school deep house continues to grow!

Harvey Sutherland
Bermuda EP
Motor City Drum Ensemble; 06-22-15
MCDE1213

It comes by no surprise that this 12” sold out on the first day it was released on Juno’s online store. The Melbourne producer has been pumping out the synth heavy deep house/disco cuts since the artists’ birth as Harvey Sutherland. The ‘Brothers’ EP was released late 2014 on Andy Hart’s Voyage Recordings selling out almost instantaneously across all shops. With a recent repress of the 'Brother’s' record taking the charts by storm, we’re even happier we managed to get our hands on the first round of  ‘Bermuda’ EP’s before it was too late. The EP released on Danilo Plessow’s MCDE label features two raw, soulful tracks that are ready to turn any dance floor inside out. We’re looking forward to a bright future of weird, refreshing music from Harvey Sutherland.

Featured Mix

To cap off the first Night Rumours post in months, we have an hour long mix covering a few shades of the underground spectrum. To start I've got an hour of emotive, melodic deep techno from the likes of HearThug, Christoph, Chaim, and DJ Tennis.  Enjoy!
