During my time at Richmond, VA's EpicFest V, I had the opportunity to meet Ken Kwaku Jr , a local Director/Cinematographer who happens to also manage. A busy man to say the least, he's been building quite the name for himself in RVA. I ran into him at the Broadberry not long after a very trill performance by Cleveland MC Jmo Let Em Know. Although I initially inquired about a quick interview with the white rapper out of Ohio, Ken used the opportunity to introduce me to Peter $un. Now up until this point I had never heard the eclectic rapper, and unfortunately due to gathering multiple introspects from performers at the festival I wasn't able to catch $un's performance. Thankfully, Ken was generous enough pass this along.
After listening to the "Starships are made of Love", I immediately regretted missing his performance. $un may just be the poster boy reflective of RVA's wide-ranging hip-hop sound as well as the VA's teeming untapped talent. Since I've been through Peter's discography and I cannot say that I've heard two tracks that sound alike; check out "When U Need Me", for example. Peter is currently gearing up for a new EP to drop soon. Be sure to check back.
