Your Old Droog often brings up a lot of polarizing opinions from the music heads I've spoken with. On one hand, the King of Coney Island has been able to garner enough attention with his music even after the news that he wasn't a Nas alter ego; while on the other hand, critics can't shake off the connection between him and the Mass Appeal Records kingpin. Regardless of where you stand, you can't deny the fact he has a strong work ethic and is giving boom bap heads that necessary fix, especially with his latest track, "We Don't Know You."

Riding a sparse, old school slapping beat that would make backpackers fall to their knees—big ups to DJ Skizz for his amazing work on this one— Droog comes correct with his signature fluid wordplay and rugged, raspy rhymes. Full of throwback lines that reference the genre's giants like Jay Z, "We Don't Know You" aims to call out the fakery going on with new followers now that the rapper's gained some juice. The Nicest, Your Old Droog's next EP, drops on July 17th; make sure you preorder the project on iTunes because we have a good feeling it'll be one of this year's undiscovered rap gems.
