When you've grown up in Miami and spent your younger years being indoctrinated by the famous sound of Detroit techno, it would have been very easy, and even understandable, to jump on the bandwagon. However Daniel Gomez, aka Danny Daze, chose to take the wheels off the bandwagon, push it down to Miami beach and then sail the techno sound away in his own direction. His second release on Jimmy Edgar's Ultramajic label, Dual, is one of the finer destinations he has reached along the way.
Opening track of the EP "Ready2go" is an infectious dance floor weapon of considerable destruction. Pounding kick drums pave the way for the irresistible synth bell that turns this track into an out and out anthem. With a real emphasis on less is more, he manages to create a relatively stripped back sound that is crisp yet still packed with energy. The second track of the release, "Rhythm Box" is straight up warehouse Techno at its best. With weighty drums and distorted vocals that sound like spitfire planes lost in the Bermuda Triangle, it shares similarities with his previous release "Flange," which is by no means a bad thing at all. Its worldwide release is not until the 22nd of June, however it's exclusively out already on Beatport right now.
