You can call Kidd Upstairs the rap game mid/late-2000's Lamar Odom; the dude can simply do it all. Rapper? Check. Songwriter? Check. Producer? Check. Music video director? Check.
You get the picture? Hopefully check.
Kidd, the LA-by-way-of-Oakland artist who you might recognize from his viral single, "Amanda Bynes," just dropped an EP entitled To Crown A Child, a medium-sized dose of good-good to keep fans satiated before the highly anticipated release of KVSHMIR II. Kidd produces 7 of the 8 tracks on To Crown A Child and rips all 8 joints with his varied flow that packs plenty of bars and bounce. However, while he impresses with his hard-hitting punchlines (peep "Peace"), there is also an ample amount of substance at the heart of this project; songs like "My Biggest Fan" and "Walk the Moon" both offer insight into the speed bumps and sacrifices that accompany the music grind. Those in need of some serious headbanging should check out "Royal" and "Bake" – the latter's hook still has me looking like a hyper-caffeinated Michael J. Fox (just sayin').
Stream To Crown A Child below, and, check out Kidd's KVSHMIR mixtape for some more blaps. If his previous work is any indication, KVSHMIR II will undoubtedly be milk-worthy, so definitely stay tuned in to EARMILK for updates on the release!
