It is said that after twenty years, culture begins to emulate past trends from previous decades. Right now we are seeing a resurgence of 80's and 90's styles in our music, art, and fashion. Some trends are regrettable, like choker necklaces and bad perms, that should never have been revisited. However, there are trends like from the 80's with punchy pop melodies driven by synths that are more than welcome to nestle themselves in the present. One band emulating the nostalgic idiosyncratic guitar melodies and staccato vocal patterns of the 80's is London based group Fiction. Their latest single "Best Before" is rich in driving pop melodies and has notes of DEVO and Flock Of Seagulls. The track begins with wailing guitar sounds that immediate transport you to the past as it carries you along Venice beach with it's sun stroked sound.
