Bristol-based house aficionado Julio Bashmore is already having a big year; he just dropped an incredible Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1, and his debut album, Knockin' Boots, will see the light of day on July 10th courtesy of Broadwalk Records. There are already four singles from the album available to hear, the latest of which is "Holding On," a soulful gem featuring the vocals of Sam Dew.
You may have noticed Dew recently on Prefuse 73's new album, and he's also written songs for some bigger names like Rihanna. He's now made the transition from ghostwriter to recording artist, so expect to see his name a lot more in the future. On "Holding On" his unique voice proves a perfect match for Bashmore's lively, perfectly-retro production.
