Michael Brun follows up Diplo & Friends mix with "Woo"

Michael Brun has had a big year: starting his own label, Kid Coconut, in 2014 and since releasing six records, recently joining Diplo for a guest mix on his Diplo & Friends radio show, and now joining his own label for yet another release.

We don't usually comment on radio mixes here at EARMILK, but Brun's appearance on Diplo & Friends was a special one that deserves such attention. Though he is known for representing his home country of Haiti in the dance music community and promoting fellow caribbean producers' work on his label, we hadn't ever heard his preference for authentic music from his homeland until last week. In his guestmix, he started off with a full half hour some of his old hometown favorites, whose blend of African and Latin styles pave a clear way to his own contemporary envisioning of progressive club music.

Then last week, Brun continued on, releasing "Woo." A collaboration with Dirty Twist, "Woo" features electric guitar that could be named as Latin rock-influenced or Rolling Stones-influenced, building into a huge festival-style drop that goes full on electro with a slightly tribal drum back drop. All in all, two huge accomplishments for Michael Brun and friends.
